Versioning
For this lab, we started with Breps that held the different types of rooms. By creating a boding box to place into the limits of the grid, we can position the rooms onto the points within the grid. This creates rows of rooms within the grid.
To create different "versions" the tool Jitter was used to disrupt the sequence of rooms. Jitter randomizes the placement of the rooms by shuffling the list of numbers given to each Brep. The seed number can be changed to give different arrangements of the rooms.
Multiple floors can be created by moving the grid by the height of the rooms. This will allow the script to be copied and reused on the new set of points and give a new randomized floor of rooms.
The idea of Versioning in Parametric design is to quickly create different variations of the same project. This becomes beneficial in the schematic design of buildings because it can allows for programs to be easily edited and manipulated within the defined constraints.
